A successful Expo for Walsall Business Week

13/06/2016

As patrons of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce, the BCCC for short, we have attended many of their events, but their Expo held on Friday 10th June at The Performance Hub Walsall Campus, was in my opinion the best one yet.

As part of the inaugural Walsall Business Week, the Chamber worked in conjunction with The Best of Walsall and Gone Fishing 4 Business to bring the business community together for a unique  networking experience.

The aim of this event, named the Walsall Networkers Expo was to showcase the talent, expertise and knowledge of the business community through seminars, a trade fair and networking.

Along with some of our fellow patrons and members of the BCCC, we were there nice and early to set up our stand ready for the delegates who arrived in plenty when the doors opened at 9.30am.

We met so many people during the 3 hour event who had been experiencing issues with their current IT or needed support with future growth and were keen to hear how Quiss could help.

My colleagues and I had several interesting conversations with delegates and other exhibitors who wanted to understand the 4 main areas of our business in more details. In summary they are broken down as follows:

  • Qworks – a range of services to help client IT systems perform optimally and avoid interruptions to their daily activities – we fix everything from computers and networks to phones and passwords.
  • Qcloud – we are G-Cloud 6 accredited which ensures our clients are assured best-of-breed cloud and hosted solutions.
  • Qvoice – with many years’ experience our converged telephony team provide advice, management, support and procurement for your communications infrastructure.
  • Qshare – our work with SharePoint offers organisations a range of Collaboration and Content services, Business Intelligence and Application Deployment solutions.

Many of the people we spoke to could clearly see how Quiss could add real value to the way they do business making them more efficient and ultimately more profitable.

In addition to the networking and trade fair, I mentioned above that there were also some seminars being ran at the same time. We saw this as a great opportunity to spread awareness of the ever topical issue of cyber security. Everywhere we go there is always a great interest in this topic as high profile cases in the news get closer to home and they realise that everyone is a target.

We ran 3 round tables on the topic in conjunction with Mimecast, one of our chosen partners for email security. We asked the question to delegates, ‘What are your concerns/experience of cyber threats’ and it was clear that it was an issue on everyone’s minds. We hope we went some way to guiding these delegates on some simple ways they can reduce the risk to their business.

It was great to meet so many people and indeed so many people genuinely interested in hearing how we can help them. We are now following all of these enquiries up and looking forward to working closely with more local businesses and investing some of our time and support into the local economy.

If you didn’t make it to this year’s event, we can highly recommend it and will hopefully see you next year!
