Frequently Asked Questions
This is a question that is asked during many sales cycles. We try to look at this answer from a clients perspective, what would we look for and what are the key areas to evaluate. So, we create a list that will maybe help out:
- Does Quiss have a knowledge of my sector?
- Are they referenceable?
- Are they privately owned?
- Are they finically secure?
- Are they profitable?
- What is their glassdoor score like?
- Do they come recommended?
- Have they deployed and managed similar technology for other clients?
- Are they going to be around next year?
- Do I like them as people?
As you can see most of the questions are around the business not technology. The fact that we have been doing this for decades and we have many thousands of technical deployments under our belts means that technology is a given.
A Managed Service Provider (MSP) is a third-party company that manages and assumes the responsibility of a defined set of IT and technology management services to its customers. It is a strategic method of improving operations that is commonplace among large corporations as well as small and medium-size businesses, non-profit organisations, and governments. As an MSP, the Quiss Team can act as the client’s IT Department or can simply augment the IT staff that is already in place.
We operate a UK helpdesk. The standard hours are 8.30 – 6.00 however this is dependent on a clients contract so can be negotiated.
Yes, we pride ourselves on having both ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 – during the recent lockdown period we were retested for both accreditations.
Yes, we have around 20 onsite, remote engineers. Some clients do take onsite engineers as part of their managed services contracts.
Yes, we are Microsoft Gold accredited in 6 areas – Gold Cloud Platform, Gold Cloud Productivity, Gold Datacentre, Gold Collaboration and Content, Gold Small and Midmarket Cloud Solutions and Gold Application Integration.
Quiss have worked in the mid-market UK legal space for over 15 years. As part of our managed service provision we work with/manage many of the applications that legal companies use. If we are not experts in them then we take the time with the software vendor to learn and understand them, so that we can offer as good a service as possible supporting them and our clients.
We operate a line 1,2 and 3 helpdesk. At any one time we have around 40 people across the three areas, but we are constantly in the look out for talent and we are looking at working with local colleges and universities to offer placements for students.
One of the key strengths of Quiss is that we are agnostic when it comes to technology delivery platforms. We provide the three main cloud platforms, Public, Private and hybrid for clients with the cloud delivery type dependent on several factors.
The private cloud solution is usually deployed from a private datacentre and or our hosting suite at our HQ in Tamworth. Usually we provide dedicated hardware, storage, comms, and security but some areas are shared to keep costs to an affordable level. Our public cloud technology is Microsoft Azure and over the last three years we have built an entire Azure practice within the business to support our continually growing portfolio of clients using this technology.
Yes, we support Microsoft Azure deployments in many ways:
- Evaluation of the suitability
- Migration to the platform
- Management of the platform
- Continuous cost analysis of the platform for clients
- Helpdesk and service wrap of the platform
Azure Virtual Desktop is a relatively new technology that is gaining market share in the UK. It is in many ways like desktop as a service which again is very popular. We have thoroughly evaluated the technology and fully support it for many of our clients.
Quiss has been in operation over 30 years and during that time we have done many thousands of deployments for clients throughout the UK. These include full managed service solutions where we onboard a client’s entire infrastructure to simple Microsoft Exchange deployments, the list is endless.
Unusually in our sector Quiss is privately owned and has no external financial investment. After questions around technology and price this is critical, you work with a managed service provider for many years and it can be extremely destabilising for your business if they are purchased and/or receive external funding as it can fundamentally change the way the business operates. There are many stories where this does not go well for clients.
We operate in UK legal, UK manufacturing and pharmaceutical. However, we do supply our expertise to many UK SME businesses.
