One of the biggest problems with spreadsheets is human error. IF is a decision-making function that can change the data in a cell based on specific criteria automatically, for potentially thousands of cells, in an instant. If the data changes, so does the outcome. Conditional formatting is similar to IF but affects the visual appearance. Imagine your spreadsheet highlighted rows which match specific criteria for you?
