Friday 18th November saw the great and good from across the region descend on Wolverhampton Racecourse for the annual BCCC Awards Dinner, a highlight in the Midlands’ social calendar.
Quiss are proud patrons of the Chamber, so our Commercial Sales Manager Matt Rhodes joined representatives from other Patrons on table 2, to enjoy the event hosted by BBC Midlands’ Phil Upton.
Guests were treated to an entertaining warm-up act involving a man being eaten by a large green pea, before emerging as Elvis – you had to be there!
Adrian Wright, the recently installed President of the BCCC ran through the highlights of 2016, which reminded all those present, just what a momentous year it has been.
He was keen to emphasise that despite worries of the UK’s exit from the EU, 2017 would be another strong year for the country and in particular the Midlands, which has always shown resilience in the face of adversity.
Matt Rhodes agreed, confirming 2017 already looks bright for the managed IT services we provide, with businesses across the Black Country forming a major part of our growth strategy.
We have made good connections with other members of the BCCC and have developed specific offerings for them, from cyber security to Cloud services. But it was good to hear the President explain his vision for the Chamber in 2017, which was to deliver increased value for members and non-members alike, whilst working hard to raise the profile of the BCCC and attract new members.
The President was quick to highlight the BCCC would adopt an open and transparent approach to up its game when it came to communicating its messaging and those of businesses across the region. He was also keen to hear regular, constructive feedback to help shape policy in the future, which was good to hear for patrons like us.
Quiss was not up for an award this year, but we wanted to show our support, not just for all the great businesses that were shortlisted, but to the Black Country as a whole. You can read all about the winners here, but a special congratulations from everyone at Quiss to FBC Manby Bowdler LLP, winners of the ‘Excellence in Customer Service’ award – it’s the award we want next year!
Perhaps one of the more surprising elements of the evening, was the food, which was fantastic. It was truly restaurant quality, which for a mass-catered event was a triumph for the chef and his team, to say nothing of the waiting staff that delivered everything without fuss or incident.
There was champagne on offer for the best tweet of the night and to be honest we thought we were in with a chance with: ‘@QuissTechPLC Great to see so many successful businesses being recognised but seriously, when are the gee gees getting gooin’? #BlackCountry #BCCCAwards’.
But, we’re looking forward to next year’s event already and hope we can be one of the winners on the stage in front of local business people!
