Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is cloud-based team collaboration software and a major part the Office 365 suite of applications. Designed for organisations of all sizes, the core capabilities in Microsoft Teams include business messaging, calling, video meetings and file sharing.

As a business communications app, Teams enables local and remote workers to collaborate on content in real time and near-real time, using almost any device, including laptops, desktops and mobile devices.

At its heart, Teams is a chat-based workspace that features group and private messaging, with threaded and persistent conversations.

Within each team, users can create different channels to organise their communications by topic, with each channel connecting a couple of users in the office or scaled up to thousands of users across global locations.

The team-based messaging thread allows users to schedule voice and video meetings; a workflow that provides contextual communications. Users can also edit PowerPoint files within the Teams app. And like other messaging services, Teams messages engage users by incorporating emojis and GIFs.

The guest-access feature in Microsoft Teams allows users to invite people outside their organisations to join internal channels for messaging, meetings and file sharing.

This capability helps to facilitate business-to-business project management and brings organisations and their clients closer together in a safe and secure environment.

With the app, users can make voice over IP calls from Teams client to Teams client. With Microsoft’s Office 365 Phone System, (formerly known as Cloud PBX) and Calling Plan (formerly known as PSTN Calling), users can make, receive and transfer calls to and from landlines and mobile phones on the public switched telephone network (PSTN).

  • Communicate more effectively – Get your team on the same page with group chat, online meetings, calling, and web conferencing.
  • Work better together – Collaborate on files with built-in Office 365 apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Customise your workspace – Add in your favourite Microsoft apps and third-party services to keep the business moving forward.
  • Keep your team secure – Get end-to-end security, administrative control, and compliance—all powered by Office 365.
