Lockdown? Lockout more like
<< Back to Headlines

So the Olympic disruption has begun in earnest. From an IT outsourcing point of view, it's something we have been helping our London based legal services clients prepare for well in advance, but delivering any hardware to keep the IT running just got a whole lot harder.

Although Box Hill in Surrey attracted a lot of attention for the no-show G4S security guards, less has been made of the lockdown of the remaining Olympic venues and the knock-on effect. We have just had the full list of postcodes affected by the lockdown and have been surprised at the surcharge being levied by courier companies delivering parcels into these areas.

Presumably the extra costs, which are by negotiation and are expected to start at £30 per delivery, will be for all the hoops that the couriers will have to jump through to get into the areas surrounding these venues. Is its use designed to instil confidence in the abilities of those undertaking the lockdown or spread fear among the population at large, conjuring up images of armed security forces imposing martial law? G4S security staff with guns, now there's a worrying thought.

Whatever your feelings, here is the list of locked-down postcodes which will be affected:
